Living Environment
Free room and board. Dorm-style accommodations with shared kitchen and bathroom are available on campus in the beautiful Pushcha-Vodytsia neighborhood in Kyiv, Ukraine. Nearby regular tram and bus lines connect the historic neighborhood to the main city. There is a fitness room, some sports facilities, music practice rooms, and a cafeteria on campus that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. A small grocery store is within walking distance of the seminary, but it is only a 15 to 20-minute bus ride to Lavina Mall, the largest shopping center in Ukraine. UETS also has free, hi-speed campus-wide WI-FI.
Working Environment
UETS has recently renovated academic facilities and office space. The classrooms have also been recently remodeled (2017) and include whiteboards, projectors and sound systems. There is campus-wide hi-speed internet available. UETS has mostly Ukrainian staff and faculty.
Language Used
English is the mode of instruction for English language courses. Ukrainian is the official language, but Russian is also widely used and is understood by all Ukrainians. Both Ukrainian and Russian are used on campus at UETS, but most students and staff have at least a basic knowledge of English.
Language Needed
No prior knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is required. However, since it would be more difficult to adapt to life in Ukraine without acquiring a local language, taking regular Ukrainian and/or Russian language courses is recommended upon arrival in Ukraine.
